Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a modern military first-person shooter from Infinity Ward, combining a cinematic single-player experience with competitive multiplayer and the return of the popular DMZ extraction mode.

Cinematic Campaign

Experience a new military conflict centered around the Korean Peninsula, following two interconnected characters whose missions unfold on opposite sides of the conflict.

Competitive Multiplayer

Kill Block

Certain multiplayer battles take place on environments that can change between rounds, altering routes and creating new tactical opportunities.

Create-a-Class & Gunsmith

The redesigned Create-a-Class system brings weapons, Operators, equipment, and Killstreaks together in a streamlined loadout system.

The expanded Gunsmith allows players to fine-tune their weapons with a wide range of attachments. Shared weapon-class attachments and specialized Apex Attachments provide additional ways to change weapon performance and playstyle.

Progression

MW4 features familiar progression systems for long-term players, including Classic Prestige and Regular Prestige, allowing players to continue building their multiplayer profile beyond the standard level progression.

DMZ Extraction Mode

The fan-favorite DMZ mode returns with an extraction-focused experience.

Squad up, enter dangerous combat zones, complete objectives, search for valuable technology, and decide when it's time to extract. Dynamic weather, changing objectives, and unpredictable encounters make every deployment a different challenge.

Gameplay

Modern Warfare 4 focuses on fast, precise, and grounded first-person combat.

Its Ballistic Authority system connects weapon recoil, bullet trajectory, aiming behavior, weapon movement, audio, and visibility to create consistent gunfights without traditional weapon bloom.

Enhanced traversal mechanics give players more freedom to move through environments, reach elevated positions, flank opponents, and approach encounters from different angles.

Combined with the redesigned Create-a-Class and Gunsmith systems, players can build weapons specifically suited to different ranges, maps, and tactical roles.

Story & Campaign

The campaign begins when North Korea launches a full-scale invasion of South Korea, turning a routine military operation into a rapidly escalating international crisis.

Players take control of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier forced to fight through collapsing cities and major military counteroffensives.

At the same time, Captain Price operates outside the military system, pursuing his own mission and seeking a powerful weapon that could shift the global balance of power.

The two storylines gradually converge as the regional conflict expands into a worldwide threat.

The campaign takes players across a variety of locations and combat scenarios, including:

• Trench warfare in Korea

• Close-quarters combat in New York

• High-speed pursuits through Paris

• Night operations in Mumbai

• Large-scale assaults on occupied cities

Visuals & Graphics

Modern Warfare 4 presents a darker and more grounded interpretation of modern warfare.

Detailed environments, improved lighting, materials, character models, explosions, smoke, and weather effects create a more immersive battlefield while maintaining clear enemy visibility during combat.

The game is designed for current-generation hardware and supports larger, more detailed environments with increased battlefield activity.

PC players can also take advantage of expanded graphics settings, performance optimization, multiple upscaling and frame-generation technologies, real-time ray tracing, and additional visual options for high-end systems.
