The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is an engaging survival horror game developed by Supermassive Games. The third installment in the series offers an exciting story with a unique setting, taking place in 2003, during the Iraq war.

The plot revolves around a special forces unit of the US military along with a CIA agent on a mission to find weapons of mass destruction. After a sudden earthquake, they become trapped deep underground in an ancient Sumerian temple and must face terrifying creatures that have been lurking there for thousands of years.

The game offers a diverse gameplay experience by allowing players to control 5 different characters, including both American and Iraqi soldiers. Each decision made by the player will directly affect the fate of each character, creating multiple story branches and different endings. Especially, the game supports both single-player and co-op modes so players can experience it with friends.

The image and sound parts are carefully invested with realistic graphics, character models built from real actors. The setting of the ancient temple with unique Sumerian architecture along with a complex cave system is designed in detail, combined with sound and lighting to create a characteristic horror and tense atmosphere.

The game received many positive reviews from critics and is considered the best part in The Dark Pictures Anthology series. Improvements in flexible camera angles and difficulty options for QTE segments make the gaming experience more enjoyable.
