S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a first-person action survival game set in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone after the second catastrophic explosion in 2006. In a world full of deadly anomalies, mutated monsters, and rival factions, the player takes on the role of Skif – a former Ukrainian marine veteran returning after 3 years of combat. To earn money to buy a new house, he is brought into the Exclusion Zone by scientist Hermann along with a Scanner device capable of creating anomalies and charging artifacts.

With the vast open world of 64km², the game allows players to freely explore and interact. The environment is intricately designed with a dynamic weather system, realistic day-night cycles, and many diverse areas ranging from abandoned train stations to irradiated forests. Realistic graphics are built on Unreal Engine 5 with photogrammetry technology and advanced 3D scanning, creating an impressive post-apocalyptic scenery.

Gameplay focuses on realistic survival elements such as hunger, thirst, radiation exposure, and backpack weight limits. Players must gather resources, search for valuable artifacts with special abilities like damage resistance or health regeneration. In addition, there are tense confrontations with various factions and dangerous mutant monsters.

The game features a diverse combat system with more than 30 types of guns along with countless upgrade options, allowing the creation of hundreds of unique weapon combinations. Intelligent enemies with advanced AI will use various tactics to defeat the player. Especially, mutated monsters have many variants with unpredictable behaviors, often appearing in packs at their lairs.

Non-linear storyline with multiple choice branches leading to 4 different endings. The player's decisions in allying or confronting factions such as Ward or Spark will directly affect the story's progression. A rich NPC system with unique stories and interactions creates a vivid game world.
