Rue Valley is an isometric narrative adventure RPG that takes you on a journey to escape a mysterious time loop. You play as Eugene Harrow, a man struggling with mental health issues, trapped in a 47-minute loop in the desolate small town of Rue Valley. Each loop is an opportunity to uncover secrets, learn about the local community, and ultimately free yourself from the cycle.

The game features a unique comic-inspired art style with hand-drawn visuals and distinctive colors, delivering a striking visual experience influenced by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The setting recreates a small town with intricate details—from a therapy office filled with old records, to a diner frozen in time, to hallways where clocks never move.

A standout feature of Rue Valley is its unique psychological character-building system. Instead of traditional stats like strength or combat ability, you shape your personality through three dimensions: Decisional, Social, and Emotional. You can become a cold, solitary individual or a loud, dramatic personality—each choice directly impacts how you interact with the game world.

The game’s Status Effects system creates interesting situations. When drunk, your character becomes more open and sociable, while anxiety makes them overly sensitive. The Mind Map system allows you to store memories, unlock unique intentions and mindsets, and create unexpected and often humorous dialogue outcomes.

Gameplay focuses entirely on dialogue and exploration, with no combat elements. You have 47 minutes in each loop to explore the town, talk to its residents, gather information, and complete objectives. Each character has their own emotional story, filled with deep secrets that you’ll uncover through repeated loops.

Rue Valley is developed by Emotion Spark Studio and published by Owlcat Games. The game also features special collaboration with Movember, a global charity focused on men’s health, aiming to reduce stigma, normalize therapy, and share reliable mental health information.

Inspired by Groundhog Day and Disco Elysium, the game offers a deep narrative RPG experience about self-discovery, resilience, and hope in seemingly hopeless situations. Every decision and personality choice shapes a story that is uniquely your own.
