Resident Evil Village is a first-person survival horror game, continuing the story from Resident Evil 7. The game puts the player in the role of Ethan Winters, who is living peacefully with his wife Mia after the terrifying events in the previous part. However, tragedy strikes again when their daughter Rose is kidnapped, forcing Ethan to embark on a new dangerous adventure.

Set in a remote village in Eastern Europe, the game offers a dark and mysterious Gothic atmosphere. The ancient architecture of Dimitrescu Castle, the abandoned wooden houses, and the snow-covered scenery create a suffocating atmosphere. The highlight is the appearance of four lords: the noble but brutal Lady Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento with her eerie dolls, the deformed Salvatore Moreau, and the insane Karl Heisenberg.

The survival gameplay of Village perfectly combines exploration, survival, and action. Players must search for resources, manage inventory, and confront a variety of enemies from Lycans werewolves to mutated monsters. The diverse weapon system along with the ability to upgrade equipment through Duke – the mysterious trader, creates depth for the combat experience.

The game's graphics are built on the powerful RE Engine, delivering impressive detail in every character and environment design. Lighting, shadows, and weather effects are skillfully handled, contributing to memorable moments. Lively 3D sound along with tense background music make every step in the game leave players breathless.

Alongside the main campaign mode, Village also offers the Mercenaries mode challenging players with high-speed action missions. The Gold Edition version adds expanded content such as Winters’ Expansion, providing a third-person perspective and the side story of Rose Winters 16 years after the main events.
