Prototype is an ambitious open-world action-adventure game by Radical Entertainment. Set in a chaotic New York City after a virus pandemic, the game offers a unique experience by allowing players to possess terrifying superpowers.

In the first part, the player takes on the role of Alex Mercer – a man with amnesia but possessing extraordinary shapeshifting abilities. Alex can run as fast as the wind, climb any terrain, and transform his body into deadly weapons. The storyline revolves around the journey to regain memories and expose the dark conspiracy behind the Blacklight virus.

Prototype 2 takes place one year later, with the main character being James Heller – a former soldier who is hunting Alex Mercer to avenge the death of his family. The game significantly improves graphics and gameplay with a new combat system, adding many unique skills such as Tendrils that can tear enemies apart or Bio-bomb that turns them into biological bombs.

Players can freely explore New York Zero – a city divided into 3 separate zones. From the strictly controlled Green Zone, to the impoverished Yellow Zone refugee area, and the devastated Red Zone where the virus rages. Each zone offers different challenges and missions.

Besides the main content, the game also has many value-expanding DLCs such as the Radnet Edition with 55 exclusive missions and challenges, the Colossal Mayhem Pack and Excessive Force Pack adding new weapons along with special outfits. The Chaos Creator mode allows players to customize parameters to create the experience they want.
