Project Zomboid is a zombie survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world, where players must face a world filled with the undead. Playing as a survivor in the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, you have to search for items, build defensive structures, and try to extend your life day by day in a world with no hope of salvation.

The game stands out with sandbox gameplay that allows customization of every element from the number of zombies, environmental difficulty, weather, to item features. Players must manage basic needs such as hunger, thirst, fatigue, and the character's mental state. The realistic weather and day-night system directly affect survival ability, forcing players to continuously adapt.

The in-depth survival system requires players to gather supplies from abandoned buildings, learn how to farm for food, fish, and hunt wild animals. Additionally, they must deal with factors such as illness, injury, infection, and psychological effects like depression or anxiety.

The game has a rich skill system such as running fast, sneaking, cooking, using melee weapons, aiming, and reloading. These skills develop based on regular practice, creating a real sense of progress. Players can craft weapons, barricades, furniture, and necessary tools from raw materials.

The combat system in the game is designed realistically with mechanics for dodging, counterattacking, and using a variety of weapons. Zombies can appear in hordes with a complex visual and auditory system, making direct confrontation extremely dangerous. Players are forced to learn how to hide, move silently, and utilize the surrounding environment.

The multiplayer feature allows up to 4 players to play split-screen or join community-created online servers. Players can cooperate to build bases, share resources, and explore the vast world together. The chat and interaction system between players creates interesting situations during survival.

The game has a vehicle system with realistic physics, allowing players to repair, upgrade, and customize vehicles. Vehicles play an important role in moving, transporting resources, and escaping dangerous situations. However, engine noise can attract zombies and fuel is a scarce resource.

The game world is built with detailed scale, including residential areas, shopping centers, hospitals, and many other locations based on real terrain. The weather changes seasonally affecting gameplay, from farming to the ability to survive in harsh winter conditions.

Project Zomboid has a powerful mod system that allows players to customize and expand the game experience. From adding new weapons, vehicles to completely changing gameplay mechanics, the mod community has created countless rich content. The game is regularly updated with new features such as Story mode, NPC system, and map expansion.
