Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a turn-based role-playing game from Capcom, released on July 9, 2021 on Nintendo Switch and PC Steam. This is the sequel to the Monster Hunter Stories series, providing a unique experience when players do not hunt monsters but become a Rider who raises and fights with them.

The story revolves around the main character - the grandson of the legendary Rider Red. During the festival night in Mahana village on Hakolo island, the player meets Ena - a Wyverian girl who used to know her grandfather. She gives you a mysterious Guardian Ratha egg and together they leave the island to protect it while the world's Rathalos are gradually disappearing.

Gameplay revolves around collecting and nurturing Monsties – monsters that become companions. Players can find eggs in Monster Dens that randomly appear on the map, then bring them back to hatch at Stables. Each Monstie possesses unique skills such as running fast, flying or swimming to help explore the world.

Turn-based combat system with 3 basic attack types: Power, Speed and Technical, creating an interesting "rock, paper, scissors" mechanism. Correctly predicting your opponent's attack will activate Head-to-Head, dealing massive damage and accumulating Kinship Gauge to perform powerful special moves.

The game allows customization of Monstie through the Rite of Channeling - a gene transfer ritual between monsters. Players can combine different genes to create unique Monstie with new skills and attributes. There are also 6 familiar weapons from the Monster Hunter series to choose from.

Multiplayer mode allows you to connect with global players in Co-op Expedition or go head-to-head through Versus Battles. The game supports DLC ranging from hairstyles, character costumes to additional content, which can be purchased individually or as a package through the All-In Extra Content Pack.
