Broken Arrow is a large-scale real-time strategy game simulating modern warfare, combining the complexity of a multi-army strategy game with intense action gameplay. The game was developed by Russian studio Steel Balalaika and published by Slitherine Ltd, officially launched on June 19, 2025.

With over 300 realistic military units and cutting-edge technology, each battle offers an immersive experience with endless replayability. The game has attracted more than 800,000 people to wishlist from Steam and has more than 500,000 people participating in open beta testing.

The single-player campaign consists of 19 meticulously crafted missions, taking place in the Baltic region with perspectives from both the United States and Russia. The plot revolves around escalating global tensions in an imaginary World War III setting in 2030, where each mission poses new tactical challenges and develops a compelling story.

In addition to the main campaign, the game offers Skirmish mode with 19 maps based on real locations, allowing confrontation with AI at many different difficulty levels. Online multiplayer mode supports intense 5v5 matches, where players can track progress through leaderboards and gain experience to level up their champions and earn new medals.

The powerful Scenario Editor allows players to create custom scenarios complete with cutscene and dialogue through an intuitive scripting system, no coding required. Creative content can be shared via Steam Workshop or downloaded to experience endless content created by the community.

A diverse army building system allows you to choose from a huge arsenal of weapons, each unit can be customized to suit your strategy. With over 300 units and over 1,500 possible combinations, players can tailor their forces to their own style. Tanks and aircraft can be upgraded with different weapon packages, armor and support systems.

Units are classified into six main roles: Reconnaissance (specialized in detecting and marking enemy positions), Infantry (general-purpose infantry with diverse weapons), Combat Vehicles (tanks, anti-tank missile launchers), Support (artillery and long-range air defense), Helicopters (rapid deployment and hit-and-run tactics), and Aircraft (airspace control with fighters and ground attack aircraft).

The game especially stands out with its full integration of support assets on the map instead of off the map, including artillery, aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, and even nuclear bombers. All modern weapons from the 1990s to the 2030s are faithfully recreated, including prototype weapons and canceled projects such as RAH-66, EFV, A-12.

Battles take place on vast battlefields inspired by real-life locations in the Baltic region, including major cities, industrial ports, air bases, airports, nuclear power plants and dams. Players can deploy forces via land, sea and air, using paratroopers and helicopters to quickly capture key positions.

A detailed customization system allows changing infantry weapons, tank armor packages, missile and bomb types for aircraft, and even artillery ammunition types. Infantry have sprint skills to move quickly or retreat from the battlefield when overwhelmed. Most vehicles are equipped with standard smoke grenades to avoid enemy anti-tank missiles.

The game aims for a balance between realism and accessibility, not trying to be a complete simulation but using realism as a tool to help players understand game mechanics faster. Likened to a cross between World in Conflict and Command & Conquer, Broken Arrow offers a deep yet accessible tactical experience for both RTS newcomers and experts.
