FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the second part in a trilogy of remakes from the legendary 1997 game Final Fantasy VII. The game successfully launched on PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024 and is officially available on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store from January 23, 2025.
The story begins when Cloud and his teammates escape the city of Midgar - where the Shinra corporation exploits the planet's Mako life energy as fuel. They entered the vast wilderness, opening a new journey with familiar and mysterious locations. Players can freely explore the world, riding a Chocobo galloping through vast fields in search of interesting destinations.
As Cloud Strife, a veteran of the Shinra organization, the player leads the Avalanche team including Tifa, Aerith, Barret and Red XIII. Their journey focuses on the pursuit of Sephiroth - the legendary fallen SOLDIER hero, who is plotting to pose a great threat to the entire planet.
The combat system has a unique combination of action and tactics. Players are equipped with many new skills and the ability to cooperate with teammates, creating thrilling and interesting battles. Each character has unique strengths and fighting styles, allowing players to build diverse strategies.
Besides the main mission, the game also has many attractive side activities. Players can participate in offline missions, explore the world to receive World Intel rewards, participate in optional battles, or try their hand at many exciting minigames. Each activity is elaborately designed and brings valuable rewards.
The game's plot has many unexpected details when SOLDIER Zack Fair trudges back to Midgar, carrying his close friend who is delirious from severe Mako poisoning. An ominous crack appeared in the sky, while the Shinra Resistance Committee led by the Wutai government declared war. At the same time, a group of mysterious people in black robes are transporting the remains of Jenova – the “Scourge from the Sky” for unclear purposes.
The Lifestream creates the cycle of existence of all things, where all life is born from the planet and eventually returns to it. Sensing the danger coming from the planet's crisis, ancient guardians called Weapons began to awaken from within the Lifestream, making humanity's fate even more uncertain.
