Hades is a roguelike game from Supergiant Games studio, perfectly combining Greek mythology and hack-and-slash gameplay. Players take on the role of Zagreus, prince of Hell, on his journey to escape his father's kingdom to find his way to Mount Olympus.

The diverse combat system allows players to use 6 main weapons: Stygius (sword), Coronacht (bow), Aegis (shield), Varatha (spear), Malphon (gloves) and Exagryph (gun). Each weapon has 4 different forms with unique characteristics and gameplay.

Divine Boons from the 8 Olympians offer countless character builds. Zeus increases lightning damage, Poseidon repels enemies, Aphrodite causes weakness, Athena gives the ability to counterattack. Artemis grants critical strike, Ares deals bleeding damage, Dionysus grants poison effects, and Demeter slows opponents.

The game's plot revolves around the complex relationship between the holy family. Zagreus discovered the truth about Persephone's biological mother and determined to find her. On this journey, he gets help from his adoptive mother Nyx, his teacher Achilles, his friend Thanatos and the gods of Olympus.

Each game run is divided into 4 main areas: Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium and Temple of Styx. Each area has its own boss with Fury Sisters, Hydra, Heroes of Elysium and finally a battle with Hades himself. Players will encounter many different types of rooms such as normal rooms, elite rooms, mini-boss rooms, treasure rooms and shop rooms.

Permanent upgrade system allows power to accumulate with each death. Darkness raises base stats, Keys unlock new weapons, Gems upgrade Underworld, Titan Blood improves weapons, and Nectar/Ambrosia strengthens relationships with characters. Each playthrough reveals new plot details.

The sequel Hades II introduces a new character, Melinoë, the witch princess of Hell. The game expands the world with new gods such as Apollo - god of light, Selene - goddess of the moon and adds many elements of dark magic. Gameplay is supplemented with the Arcana Altar system to increase strength, the ability to tame companion beasts, and tools to collect magical materials.

Both installments feature unique hand-drawn art styles, smooth 3D characters, dynamic music, and high replayability. Each play brings a different experience thanks to the random combination of rooms, rewards and rich upgrade system.
