Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a stealth action game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami in 2015. This is the final installment in the Metal Gear Solid series, continuing the story of the main character Big Boss set during the Cold War.

The story takes place in 1984, after Big Boss (Venom Snake) wakes up from a 9-year coma caused by the attack on Mother Base. Under the leadership of Kazuhira Miller, Snake builds the mercenary force Diamond Dogs to track down the organization Cipher – the culprit behind the fall of Mother Base. This journey leads Snake to face many dangerous enemies and dark secrets about the past.

The game offers a vast open world with a third-person perspective, allowing players to freely choose how to approach missions. The intelligent AI system of enemies can learn from the player's actions, creating a diverse and challenging experience. Players can use allies such as the horse D-Horse, dog D-Dog, sniper Quiet, and combat vehicle D-Walker to assist in missions.

The base management system allows players to build and upgrade Mother Base, gather resources, and recruit personnel. The game also features a realistic day-night cycle and changing weather, directly affecting tactics and how players complete missions.

Metal Gear Solid V received much praise for its creative gameplay and groundbreaking open world design. Although some players felt the storyline did not meet expectations like previous installments, the game is still regarded as one of the greatest stealth action games of all time with many prestigious awards.
