MENACE marks the spectacular return of Overhype Studios—the team behind the legendary Battle Brothers. This is a turn-based tactical RPG set in the Wayback star system, where law and order have collapsed. You take command of a Republic Marine force, assembling a ragtag army of mercenaries and criminals to confront an external threat manipulating local factions.

The biggest evolution compared to its predecessor is the introduction of Mechanized Warfare. The battlefield is no longer dominated by infantry alone—it is now torn apart by tanks, artillery, and massive mechs. Players must carefully balance the heavy firepower of vehicles with the mobility of infantry to gain the upper hand across diverse environments, from dense jungles to ruined urban landscapes.

The combat system retains its signature hardcore difficulty, emphasizing realism through mechanics like Suppression and Flanking. Ammunition and range play a decisive role; a burst from a heavy machine gun can pin enemies down, creating opportunities for snipers to finish them off. Enemy AI is both intelligent and ruthless, ready to punish every tactical mistake with the permadeath of your squad members.

On the strategic level, the warship TCRN Impetus serves as your mobile base of operations. Here, you make key decisions in a non-linear campaign with branching operations. Choosing which faction to support directly impacts diplomatic relations, access to black market weapons, and ship upgrades. Every decision not only shapes individual battles but also influences the balance of power across the entire star system.

The human element is elevated to a new level. Each squad leader, such as Pike or Rewa, has their own background, personality, and psychological struggles. You must carefully manage relationships within your team—morale and cohesion directly affect combat performance. A disgruntled leader can destabilize your squad, while trust unlocks powerful cooperative abilities.

The game offers endless replayability thanks to Procedural Generation. Battle maps, missions, and loot are all randomized with each run. No two playthroughs are ever the same, forcing players to constantly adapt and develop new strategies to survive relentless enemy pressure.
