Layers of Fear 2023 is a notable psychological horror work from Bloober Team, recreating and expanding the horror universe of the series through Unreal Engine 5 graphics technology. The game combines previous parts with new content, creating a more complete and profound experience of the madness of artists obsessed with their work.

The plot revolves around three characters with intertwined stories: The Painter in the Victoria mansion searching for inspiration for the final masterpiece while struggling with madness, the Actor facing a painful past on a ghostly ship under the direction of a mysterious director, and the Writer exploring the lonely lighthouse to find material for a new book.

The game focuses on psychological elements by allowing players to explore a constantly changing space that reflects the unstable mental state of the character. Rooms can completely change when the player turns their back, endless corridors stretch out, and distorted paintings gradually become frightening as the story unfolds.

The new gameplay system introduces a flashlight mechanism not only for illumination but also to confront supernatural entities. Players must quickly react to paranormal phenomena, solve complex puzzles, and make decisions that affect the story's ending.

The Final Note DLC expands the story with a new perspective from the Painter's wife, clarifying many mysteries about their family. Inheritance DLC follows the Painter's daughter on a journey to uncover the truth about her father. The Final Prologue allows players to experience the role of a horror film director, with decisions that can change the entire production process.

The music in the game was exclusively composed by Arek Reikowski, with haunting melodies and vivid environmental sounds. Footsteps echo in the dark corridor, mysterious whispers, and sudden sounds create a continuously tense atmosphere.

Layers of Fear 2023 has many different endings based on the player's actions and decisions. With a duration of about 13 hours for the main content, along with many secrets and hidden details that require multiple playthroughs to discover, the game offers high entertainment value for fans of the psychological horror genre.

The horror experience is elevated thanks to Ray Tracing technology and the Lumen system, creating extremely realistic lighting and shadow effects. Visual effects such as spatial distortion, environmental changes, and ghostly details are vividly portrayed, making players always feel unsafe in the game world.
