Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure game combining intense melee combat with an engaging exploration experience. Players will venture into a semi-open world to seek answers and confront mysterious supernatural creatures.

Developed by Rogue Factor and published by Nacon, the game is scheduled to be released on September 4, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The project is led by Jonathan Jacques-Belletête – former art director of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.

In the hostile world of Hell is Us, the nation of Hadea is not only ravaged by civil war but also faces a mysterious disaster called The Calamity. This event has created supernatural creatures that modern weapons cannot destroy. Players take on the role of Rémi – a United Nations peacekeeper searching for his parents.

The most unique point of Hell is Us is the exploration system without a map. The game completely removes the map, compass, and quest marker – players have to rely on instinct and observation to explore. All important information is conveyed naturally through dialogue and the surrounding environment.

The combat system focuses on melee weapons including swords, spears, and axes – weapons specially forged to fight supernatural monsters. Players need to learn how to skillfully use the KAPI drone to assist in combat and survival. The game requires managing both health and stamina, creating a challenging but not overly difficult experience.

The story of Hell is Us explores the profound theme of human violence – a vicious cycle driven by emotions and passion. The game is inspired by the film Annihilation (2018) and the Southern Reach Trilogy novel series, creating a dark and haunting world.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, Hell is Us supports ray-traced global illumination, shadows and reflections, delivering an impressive visual experience on next-generation gaming consoles.
